Sammi Post
the kagga is back, with a vengence - or at least a sammy. this is the pastrami sammi.
first, home made bread:
with pastrami you definitely need some tight mustard:
add the mustard and pastrami:
add cheese (this is mature cheddar but i would normally suggest emmental or jarlsburg) and some tight crinkled pickles:
finally, add (by order of the wifey) some greens, in this case...

go to page A3.
how embarrassing. what isn’t embarrassing though is that tight mini-mustache. that, my friends, is a bam.
There’s one thing, as far as self-esteem goes, that’s more or less the equivalent of getting hit on by a hot chick even though you’re engaged to a hot chick. And this is having a cool musician invite you to be in their band.
Tom and I (www.myspace.com/tomconwaymusic) have been going to this open mic that’s started up a couple months ago every fortnight at a local...

“The great questions which engage men’s minds across the centuries are like streams which flow partly underground. Below, it is itself continuous. It is continuous, not identical; for lower down not only is it fuller from the rains it received in its upper reaches, its colour also is altered by the new soil through which it now flows. So, of the questions which men ask in any age,...

Kagga in Germania
in osnabruk right now for a wedding. in 4 years at Cambridge i’ve been to the continent 3 times, twice related to weddings.
yesterday chinup and i went to a little village called Heuerssen, where (apparently) some ancestors on my mom’s side came from in the late 19th century. they settled in southwest Missouri. from the looks of it, they went from the middle of no where to the...

this post is half about being tight and half about suckin.
first, the tight. had to go to a black tie affair in oxford this evening. helena booked me in, thinking it was gonna be on thurs. late in the day we found out it was on friday. i needed to be in cambridge by 9am, so this presented some serious...

i need a decent tumblr theme. guess this isn’t my forte.
weird dream last night. was in some place. near a shuttle launch. it went off and i ran out to see it go up but as i was watching it was all crazy - shooting up in short bursts, dodging side to side. then it finally nose-dived into the ground. then i woke up. it was weird cuz while it was flying erratically i was thinking to...
I re-member...
the kagga memory is shot. i think it’s the phd. i’m telling people things twice, thrice and more. i used to have a good memory compared to those around me at okie state university. these days i’m some sort of handicap eking out my studies by writing in short, manageable blocks of information. it could just be a change of venue. people with memories like helenaga or my...

Ode to the JoelMac
it may be dead. it is a tradition for phd students to have their computer crash in the last months of the thesis. it’s good to be part of a wider history.

one month left. guess this month’s soundtrack…
i’ve been watching old people around town lately. there’s lots in cambridge. canes. hunched over. sagging skin. frail bodies. and often looking down at the ground, occasionally glancing up without necessarily raising their heads. the prentice said once that the body is an awful thing. that’s always stuck with me when i ponder the old or frail.

i’m taking the time this morning to watch the sun rise over the house across the street, through the window that ludwif josef johann wittgenstein once looked out of. the sun will break past the chimney in a few seconds. wittgenstein broke through into fame during the early 20th century and wrote 2 of the most important philosophy works of the 20th century. he used to live in my house....
“doc pittman” died the other day. i couldn’t even tell you his first name. he used to come in and drink at mcgills at 21st and utica where my sister used to bartend. she thinks he had a miserable life. i’m not sure if he was an alcoholic or not, but he was in mcgills most nights. he “wasn’t old enough to die” either, whatever that means. i suppose it...
Quackers
i was just reading “an introduction to quakerism” written by Pink Dandelion and on page 27 Dandelion refers to the work of Gay Pilgrim, who has analyzed the style of early quaker friends in terms of the Foucauldian concept of heterotopia.

Chinese Premier Injects Note of Optimism at Davos - NYTimes.com
this dude was just at cammy, i think. i didn’t go to his talk unfortunately.
it has been pointed out today that none of my life approaches are valid. this leads me to think thinking is crap.
an example to bring this “metafer” into focus.
after said conversation i took a break in the ol’ library restroom/toilet for a growl. i was stewing over all this on the stool when it became time to finish up and pull up the ol’ britches/trousers. while...

overall, this isn’t that great of an article, but it’s an interesting attempt. he sure seemed to wax lyrical about his upbringing and bland generalizations about oklahoma being a fly-over zone rather than find revealing interviews. the 17 year old girl and the final “dont know how to help you, bud” comments are the most revealing of oklahoma’s character, i would...
